Position Summary:

The Home Mortgage and Relationship Banker is responsible for new loan & deposit production while also managing and servicing a portfolio of customers. This role serves as the primary point of contact for selecting clients, ensuring that all their banking needs, including deposits, lending, and ancillary products, are met with a superior level of service. The banker will develop strong relationships with customers, provide tailored financial solutions, and support mortgage lending needs while maintaining the highest levels of professionalism and compliance. The role also supports exam and audit review of the bank’s mortgage and consumer loan portfolio. The role is expected to support the buildout and expansion of our lending programs and will require technical skills as well as a willing to manage the operational, compliance and technical aspects of the position.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Relationship Management:

  • New production of deposits and loans.
  • Serve as the primary bank contact for a portfolio of customers, offering personalized banking solutions. Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients by proactively identifying and addressing their financial needs. Role will also assist new prospects.
  • Act as a trusted advisor for customers with complex banking needs, including wealth management, business banking, and mortgage lending.

Lending & Mortgage Services:

  • Assist clients in obtaining home mortgage & retail loans by guiding them through the application, approval, and closing process.
  • Analyze client financial profiles to recommend mortgage products and lend solutions tailored to their needs.
  • Stay informed about market trends, interest rates, and lending policies to provide up-to-date guidance to clients.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to mortgage lending and loan origination.
  • Management of the portfolio, renewal and servicing of portfolio loans.
  • Support system and operational needs of the business unit. Technical skills to required to support contributing to the building out of our software, core, programs, procedures, products and other technologies.

Banking Solutions & Financial Services:

  • Identify and cross-sell additional banking services, including deposits, treasury management, and personal/business lending solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as commercial banking, treasury management, and investment advisors to offer comprehensive financial solutions.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the bank’s products, services, and technology to provide expert advice.
  • Assist clients with account management, transactions, and financial planning needs.

Business Development & Community Engagement:

  • Actively seek opportunities to grow the bank’s customer base by networking, referrals, and community involvement.
  • Participate in local events and engage with business professionals to establish and strengthen client relationships.
  • Work closely with bank leadership to develop strategies for expanding customer relationships and market presence.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Support and manage audit and exams of the loan portfolio.
  • Make sure files are correct and organized with no missing items or exceptions.
  • Adhere to all banking regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure a high level of compliance.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling customer information.
  • Monitor loan performance and address any potential issues proactively.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Banking School in business, finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage lending, relationship banking, or a similar financial services role.
  • Strong knowledge of home mortgage products, retail loan products, banking services, and wealth management solutions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Familiarity with banking regulations, compliance requirements, and mortgage underwriting processes.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams to achieve customer satisfaction.
